Graduate of California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor's degree in music education. Experienced music educator with a long history of working at various middle schools, high schools, and music organizations. Strong project manager with an experienced history of event planning, programming, and logistics.


Music Experience
Emmerick Doan graduated in May 2019 from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach with a degree in instrumental music education. He has studied and worked with Steve Trapani, Jermie Arnold, and Tamara Thies. During his time at CSU Long Beach, Emmerick was the CSULB NAfME chapter president and performed with the Bob Cole Conservatory Concert Band as a tenor trombonist. During his student teaching placement at Orangeview JHS and Magnolia HS, Emmerick was the recipient of the Outstanding Initial Credential Student award, given by the College of Education in 2021.In January 2022, Emmerick became the music director at Ray Wiltsey Middle School, where he led the Advanced Band and Advanced Orchestra to several Silver and Gold Ratings at Forum Music Festivals. He also founded the marching band and color guard program at the school, where they compete at various parades throughout Southern California. In 2016, his Advanced Orchestra was invited to perform at the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools Performing Arts Showcase.Emmerick currently serves as the Director of Bands at South El Monte High School. He is also an adjudicator for SCSBOA and SAML. Recently, he marched in the 2023 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 2026 Tournament of Roses Parade with the Band Directors Marching Band.Emmerick grew up in the city of South El Monte, California where he went to South El Monte High School. He graduated in 2015 with top honors in his class. During his high school career, he was the head drum major of his marching band, where he led them to a number of awards and recognitions throughout Southern California. Emmerick had the amazing opportunity to perform with the Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band and the El Monte Union High School District Honor Band.
Non-Profit Experience
Emmerick’s dedication to strengthening and uplifting the Vietnamese-American community began over a decade ago when he became the Cultural Village Director for the 2016 and 2017 UVSA Tết Festival. Cultivating one of UVSA SoCal’s major flagship events, he later served as the festival’s Vice Chair in 2019 and 2020, and ultimately as Chairperson in 2023.Beyond Tết Festival, Emmerick has contributed to UVSA SoCal through multiple leadership roles, including Project LEAD Camp Chair, where he helped restructure internal camp staff operations to strengthen leadership development and attendee experience. During the pandemic, he revived UVSA Summit, creating opportunities for the region to connect and engage during a time when many felt disconnected.Emmerick continued to expand his impact through the Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of North America, where he served on the Council of Regional Representatives, and was Programming Committee member for VE-1, Programming Director for VE-2, Entertainment Director for UNAVSA-17, and Associate Director for UNAVSA-19. Through these roles, Emmerick developed innovative programs intended to create memorable experiences that inspired attendees to remain connected in their local VSA communities.Beyond the VSA world, Emmerick co-founded VìTÂM, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging Vietnamese communities by creating opportunities for challenging conversations and providing disruptive knowledge and resources. He is also a founding member of Đồng Hành, a global network of Vietnamese youth focused on Vietnamese identity, culture, and advocacy. Throughout every role, Emmerick’s philosophy centers on fostering inclusive spaces where individuals can grow into leaders.
